Deadline:

By date indicated on the VolXpress statement

All financial obligations with The University of Tennessee (i.e., graduation fee, library, student clinic, traffic fines, rent, phone bills) must be paid before a diploma or transcript is issued. The University is authorized to withhold a student’s diploma and transcript for any fees owed and reported by a department of the University at the time of graduation, regardless of whether those fees are delinquent.

It is very important that the University has a current address, since VolXpress statements are mailed approximately one month before graduation to all students who show a balance owed. Balances must be cleared by the deadline indicated on the VolXpress statement to ensure that the diploma will be available at graduation and that the official copies of the transcript can be obtained after the degree is received.

Although late payment of obligations should immediately show up on the student’s record, it is recommended that receipts be kept.

It is the student’s responsibility to make sure that all financial obligations have been met and appropriately cleared with the Bursar’s Office.
