Student ID and Access InformationTwo kinds of important identification and access information now that you are admitted to UT.1. NetID and NetID Password are used to access:
2. Student ID and Personal Security Code are used to access:
What is a Student ID?A student ID number is a 9-digit number assigned to every admitted student to uniquely identify him/her at UT. Undergraduate students are notified of their student ID by the Undergraduate Admissions Office. Graduate students are notified of their student ID by the Graduate Admissions Office. This 9-digit number will be printed on your Student ID card (also known as the VolCard). Please keep this in a safe place. What is a Personal Security Code (PSC)?Your personal security code (PSC) is a 4-digit code used with your Student ID. It's used to access your financial aid awards, academic history and DARS (degree audit) reports. Only you have access to your PSC. If you have a social security number, then your PSC is the last four digits of your social security number; if you do not have a social security number (for example, international students do not have one), then your psc is the last four digits of your student ID number. If your SSN was not on your admission application, your PSC is the last four digits of your Student ID.Any student who has attended UT (Knoxville) Fall 1988 Semester or later has a PSC on the student record system. It is not possible to assign a PSC if you do not already have one. There are several ways to obtain your PSC:
What is a NetID and NetID Password?Your NetID is the "name" part of your free UT email address, name@tennessee.edu. Your NetID password is used with your NetID to access CPO (Circle Park Online) for registration, your UT e-mail, Blackboard and My/UT portal. To learn more about your NetID go to http://directory.utk.edu.Your NetID password by default is composed of the following three pieces of information:
Note: The default password allows you to gain initial access to password protected facilities. Since it is composed of personal information that could be guessed, it is relatively insecure and should not be used as your permanent password. You should change this password to something more private as soon as possible. Go to Change Password when you are ready to do so. If you are new to UT or want additional information on
IDs, passwords, and using email please go to http://oit.utk.edu/areyounew.html.
