Attention All Students:
In order to continue receiving your benefits every semester, you must fill out an Enrollment Certification Request form which is available under the Maintain Benefits link on the UTK VA homepage. All enrollment certification request forms must be received at least 45 days prior to the start of the semester in order to ensure that your payments will be on time. Please keep in mind that if you are a new recipient of the GI Bill or DEA, it will take the VA up to 3 or 4 months to process your claim. To check on the status of your claim, you may contact the VA directly at 1-888-442-4551 or online at Right Now Web.
Please remember that you must notify Regina Lewellyn of any changes that you make to your schedule and the notification must be done within 30 days of the change taking place. This includes changes in courses, major, minors, concentration, catalog year you are following and address changes. While address changes are made in the University of Tennessee Veterans Affairs records, you must contact the VA directly as well to change your address as we are not able to do so for you.
Please remember that you must be enrolled in a degree seeking program or pursuing a certification in order to receive VA Education Benefits. Also, you must notify Regina Lewellyn of any “non-punitive” grades that you receive such as W’s, WP’s, WF’s, NC’s and Incompletes.
If you experience any problems with receiving your benefits, please do not wait to contact our office as it can take up to 12 weeks for resolution. If you are unsure whether or not you have completed necessary paperwork, contact our office immediately.
Throughout the semester and prior to, several emails will be sent out to students, please make sure that we have your correct UTK email address on file and you have marked our email address as a safe sender as you are held responsible for any information that is contained within those emails.

Dates to Remember:
Please visit the Academic Calendar for dates concerning graduation, registration, holidays, and exams.
Current processing time for supplemental claims to the VA is 12 weeks. New claims can take up to 16 weeks.
Enrollment Certification Request forms should be submitted as early as the first day that you register for classes and no later than 45 days prior to the beginning of the semester to ensure that your payments are on time.
Attention
Chapter 30 & 1606 Students:
Remember: You must verify your enrollment on the last day of every month that you are enrolled in order to receive payment. You can do this by using WAVE or calling 1-877-823-2378. If you have problems verifying your enrollment, please contact me at utkvalady@utk.edu as soon as possible.
Financial Aid and the GI
Bill:
It is possible to receive financial aid including but not limited to subsidized and unsubsidized loans and grants while receiving the GI Bill. You’re amount for which you can receive in Financial Aid is effected by the amount of money that you receive through the use of the GI Bill. If you have questions regarding this please contact the Office of Financial Aid at 865/974-3131.
