Apply for or Transfer to NEW GI BILL

Anyone who wishes to begin using the New Post-9/11 GI Bill on August 1, 2009, must complete a new 22-1990. This form must be sent to the UTKVA Office along with copies of all DD214’s that have been received.

If you are unsure about which benefits you would like to apply for, I suggest that in Part II of the application, you check 9A, 9B, 9C, 9D and if you think you are eligible for 9E, check that one as well. HOWEVER, LEAVE 9F AND THE REMAINING BOXES ASSOCIATED WITH 9F BLANK. This will result in the VA sending a Certificate of Eligibility for each chapter that you are eligible and also an Election Statement that you can choose or decline to sign at that time.
