Will I be able to receive an advance payment from the VA?
| No. The University of Tennessee does not accept advance checks from the VA.
Can I have my checks sent directly to the University to pay my fees?
| No. All of your payments will be mailed directly to you or will be deposited by direct deposit.
How will I be paid?
| Checks are mailed at the end of the month for the preceding month. Chapter 30 and 1606 recipients are required to complete an enrollment verification form monthly.
When should I expect my first check?
| Normal processing time takes 6 to 8 weeks.
Can I repeat a class?
You may only repeat classes if:
- you did not make a passing grade;
- you made a D in the class but your major requires a C or higher. In this case, you must provide written verification on letterhead from your college to the Office of Veterans Affairs stating that a C or higher is required for major requirements to be completed.
Do all of my classes have to apply toward my degree?
| Yes. To receive VA Educational benefits, you must be enrolled in a degree-seeking program and all of the classes you take must apply toward that degree.
